Celebrity Ventures is a food-service management group winning profits in the sports-themed dining niche with their strategy of teaming famous, professional athletes with namesake restaurants. The restaurants are high-profile, high-volume enterprises located in the Northeast U.S. and Florida offering a unique ambience, mainstream “made-from-scratch” food presentation and high quality service. Two of the company’s client restaurants are Eddie George’s Grill 27 in Columbus, OH, and Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Business need

These two sports-themed restaurants faced the enviable problem of extremely high volume traffic on game days. Their previous system was slow and often crashed in high volume situations, resulting in customer and employee dissatisfaction. They realized they needed to upgrade their point-of-sale systems to speed transactions, empower employees to create an enhanced customer experience and provide a reliable, efficient and scalable solution to eliminate crashes and expand as the business grows. They also required a clean, seamless POS design that would complement the restaurant décor.

Solution

Celebrity Ventures turned to IBM Business Partner, Systems Technology Group (STG) to carry the ball for their advanced POS needs. STG installed seven IBM SurePOS 500 systems running under an IBM xSeries with IBM SureMark printers in each of the two restaurants. The sleek look and elegant lines, plus the space-saving footprint of the SurePOS 500, added visual appeal and blended well into the upscale ambience of the restaurants. And, the installation was accomplished overnight with no interruption in business.
